What Are Invisalign Braces?

Invisalign is suitable for adults, teenagers and young children with it’s variations; Invisalign i7, Invisalign Lite, Invisalign Full, Invisalign First and Invisalign Teen. Invisalign is the comfortable, discreet solution for teeth correction. The aligners (braces) move your teeth, little by little, in a precise, controlled manner, towards the desired final position, with the end result being perfectly aligned teeth and a great smile.

The aligners used are custom-made, near transparent, and easily removable – you can take them in and out as you please. They are the improved, modern version of traditional metal fixed braces. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign braces use no metal brackets or wires, and, as they’re nearly invisible, others won’t notice that you’re wearing them.

Should I see an Orthodontist for Invisalign?

Orthodontists spend an extra 3 or more years studying the movement of teeth within the jaw bone after they have studied a 5 year dental degree. Orthodontists have the advanced knowledge to position teeth correctly to enhance the oral health and function of the mouth and to prevent future issues that may be caused if teeth were straightened incorrectly. Not all orthodontists specialise in Invisalign and it is important to find one that does. Dr Stephanie at our Chelsea Dental Clinic is a Specialist Orthodontist who specialises in Invisalign and all the Invisalign variations including Invisalign i7, Invisalign Lite, Invisalign Full, Invisalign First and Invisalign Teen. Stephanie is able to correct all teeth alignment issues using Invisalign. If you have been told Invisalign can not be used in your case, then book an appointment to see Dr Stephanie who is a Specialist Orthodontist specialising in Invisalign.

Dental Issues That Invisalign Can Fix

Invisalign works effectively for a wide range of teeth straightening issues, such as:

  • Crowded teeth (lack of room for all teeth to fit normally)
  • Widely spaced teeth (extra space within your jaw)
  • Cross bites (upper and lower jaws are both misaligned)
  • Deep bites (upper teeth overlap significantly with lower teeth)
  • Under bites (lower teeth protrude past front teeth)
  • Children’s teeth issues with baby and developing teeth
The Invisalign Process

We provide the full range of Invisalign treatments: Invisalign First, Invisalign Teen, Invisalign 7, Invisalign Lite and Invisalign Full. Having assessed your teeth, we will discuss with you which option is best for your teeth.

With that decided, the next step is to take scans of your teeth and bite. No need for traditional messy impressions: we simply scan your teeth with our Trios intraoral scanner. You can watch as your teeth appear in 3D and full colour.

Using special software, we then show you virtual results. This means you can see the projected end result of how your teeth will look when your treatment is complete. So you know exactly what to expect.

Then, with one click, Invisalign HQ (in California) receive your digital impressions and there is no need to lose 2 weeks of time by posting impressions and using traditional methods. Using their 3D computer imaging technology, they will use your digital impressions to create super precise custom made series of aligners.

For the fitting of the aligners we may use very small SmartForce® attachments which we create using super clear glass material that keep your teeth bright and white throughout treatment.

Each set of aligners will normally be worn for 1- 2 weeks. We check on your progress around every 6 weeks and provide new aligners each time. Treatment length varies, but lasts, on average, 3 to 12 months.
