Dr Vittorio Franco graduated at the University of Rome La Sapienza in 1991. Subsequently he developed a special interest in Endodontics (root canal treatment and retreatment), attending many postgraduate private endodontics courses and completed the postgraduate program in Endodontics at the University of Naples. He worked in the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics of Rome, Tor Vergata University and was an Endodontics consultant in the Fatebene Fratelli Hospital in Rome.
Vittorio is Specialist member of European Society of Endodontology (ESE) and at present, he is the Treasurer of the Society. He has been President of the Italian Society of Endodontics and served on the editorial Board of the Italian Endodontic Journal, and he is reviewer for many international journals and author of many scientific articles. Vittorio also contributes as trainer, developer, and tester with leading companies of Endodontic instruments. He lectures nationally and internationally and is a visiting professor at many academic postgraduate courses in Endodontics.
He works exclusively in Endodontics and Endodontic Surgery under microscopic magnification on referred patients since 1998. He is registered in the UK on the GDC specialist list in Endodontics.

How long does a root canal take?
The duration of root canal treatment varies according to the complexity of the case and the anatomy of the tooth being treated. In most instances, treatment can be completed in a single appointment of approximately 90 minutes. More complex cases — particularly those involving molar teeth or re-treatment of a previously treated tooth — may require additional time or a follow-up session.
Following the root canal itself, a separate appointment is typically arranged to place a crown or other restoration over the treated tooth, protecting it and restoring it to full function. Dr Franco will discuss the expected process and timeline with you at the point of referral.
