Lip Filler Enhancement
We provide a specialised lip service at the clinic where Dr Marjan Goodacre will discuss your concerns and treatment goals. If you have photographs of lips you would love to have bring them along to your consultation.
There are many ways to enhance the lips. It can be subtle so no-one else will notice you’ve had anything done and they will just appear healthier and well hydrated. Or if you prefer to have a more obvious change this can be done too.
Some treatment methods will be more appropriate for certain types of lips and some lip treatments will not be suitable for everyone. Dr Marjan Goodacre takes care to assess this and discuss it with you but something can be done for almost everyone.
The treatment options can then be explained to you to allow you to make appropriate well educated decisions in order to achieve the most aesthetic result with an understanding of how to achieve it and the different options that you have.
Lip Border Dermal Filler Treatments
If your lips are not as defined as they used to be, we can provide border line injections to enhance the definition and outline of your lips. This treatment is also ideal for anyone who is developing lip lines (also known as smokers lines or barcode lines). Lip lines develop as volume is lost in our lips and in the tissues around our lips. Lip lines can be frustrating to many as not only do they change the contour of the lips and age the entire face but they also cause lip stick to bleed and can even cause further creasing and loss of volume around the lips. For further information on Lip Lines Treatments please see the Lip Lines section below.
Lip Body Dermal Filler Treatments
If you love the shapes of your lips and simply want to add volume we can provide lip body enhancement. Lip body treatments can be used for a subtle enhancement which will simply make your lips feel and look healthier and more hydrated. With our subtle lip treatments even your partner wouldn’t know you have had filler, other than the fact that your lips look great. If however you want a noticeable change in volume this can also be done with Lip Body Treatments. The placement of filler is positioned accurately and carefully to maintain the natural feel and movement of your lips. This technique ensures a beautiful natural appearance of your new enhanced lips.
Cupid Bow Lip Filler Treatment
What is the Cupid Bow some of you may ask? The Cupid Bow is the V-shape contour in the centre of the upper lip that forms the 2 peaks and bow shaped upper lip. Cupid Bow Lip Filler Treatments can be used to enhance the Cupid Bow to create more curvature and shape of the upper lip. This treatment will help contour the lips if you don’t like your flat upper lip. If you would like to further enhance your Cupid Bow then you may require the additional support of the Philtrum Column Filler Treatment.
Philtrum Column Filler Treatments
What is the Philtrum Column? The Philtrum Columns are the raised vertical columns that extend from the peaks of the upper lip to the nose. Some people have very well-defined natural Philtrum columns and others have an entirely flat area above the lip with no column shape. If you would like to enhance the shape of your Philtrum Columns this treatment is for you. There are different reasons for having Philtrum Column Filler Treatment other than creating the Column contouring you may be fond of. Creating a Philtrum Column will add curve and contouring to the area above the upper lip. As we age the area above the upper lip flattens and lengthens and so this treatment is ideal to bring back the youthful curvy and well supported upper lip area. If you feel the area above your upper lip is too long this treatment can also help to create the youthful curves, structure and support which will also help to make this area appear shorter and better supported. If you feel the border of your upper lip is too flat and you would like to enhance the Cupid Bow appearance further this treatment will help support the Cupid Bow enhancement and add further curvature of the upper lip.
Lip Support Treatments
To further enhance and improve the shape, position and definition of the lips the surrounding tissues can be addressed to ensure they are providing adequate strength and support to the lips. See lower face filler treatments below.
Lower Face Filler Treatments
These treatments focus on the skin and tissues around the lips in the lower half of the face. The skin surrounding the lips are essential in providing strength and support for the lips. We can therefore enhance and improve lip structure, shape, position and definition when the surrounding tissues are treated correctly, thereby enhancing and improving the final lip appearance as well as enhancing the lower half of the face.
If you feel the skin around your lips and mouth have changed or could do with some additional support Lower Face Filler Treatments may help you.
There are a number of changes that occur in the skin around the mouth which in turn cause different lines and creases to develop. Some of the lines that develop around the mouth are only evident during movement of the facial muscles whereas others can be present even when the face is motionless. The appearance of these lines can be reduced and improved with the use of Lower Face Filler Treatments which also provide better support to lips.
Lower Face Filler Treatments include lip lines filler, nasolabial lines filler, marionette lines filler, mental lines filler and other smile lines filler treatments. Other treatments that provide better support for the lower face and lips are chin and jaw enhancements which help to provide structure and support to the lower part of the face and to tighten saggy skin.
Lip Lines Filler Treatments
Lip lines are also known as Smokers lines or Barcode lines.
Lip lines are the vertical lines (and sometimes horizontal lines) that develop above the upper lip and are made worse by pursing or kissing of the lips. These lines can be corrected or improved with Lip Lines Filler Treatments.
The Lip Lines Filler Treatment is carefully carried out to replace the volume loss that has caused the skin to collapse and crease in these areas. Providing structure back to this area will not only smooth the skin and remove the lines but will improve the definition around the lips.
Nasolabial Lines/Smile Lines Filler Treatments
Nasolabial Lines extend from the corner of the nose almost to the corner of the mouth. The biggest deficiency that develops for some people is at the corner of the tip of the nose making a shadow in this areas. For others the Nasolabial Lines are most severe on smiling but when they begin to be visible at rest it is a good time to start addressing them.
Marionette Lines Filler Treatments
Marionette Lines extend from the corners of the mouth downwards and can contribute to a downward smile giving a saddened appearance.
Marionette Lines can also occasionally be so severe that the corners of the mouth get sore all the time from saliva collecting there.
Strengthening of the marionette lines provides better shape and support of the lips.
Mental Lines Filler Treatments
The mental crease is the horizontal line between the lower lip and the chin. This area is smooth and flat when we are young but can get deeper with age and gradually forms a crease. Dermal Filler can help to not only remove lines in this area but to also provide the structure and support that this area requires to give to the lips and lower half of the face.
Type Of Dermal Filler
There are many different types of dermal fillers and many different brands. We only use the top brands at our clinic on the Kings Road in Chelsea.
Today, most dermal fillers are composed of Hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid naturally exists within the skin and it absorbs water giving volume, shape, hydration and elasticity. Hyaluronic acid has minimal risk of reactions and is more readily accepted by the body than other silicone or collagen fillers.
Dermal Filler Procedure
The area requiring dermal filler is first examined and assessed to identify the precise technique and positioning of the filler in order to obtain the desired result.
For certain dermal filler procedures topical anaesthetic is first applied and left to numb the skin for 20-30 minutes. Occasionally a numbing injection may be given to numb the area further.
The dermal filler is then injected into the area required using a very fine needle.
Dermal Filler Results
Results can be seen immediately after dermal filler treatments and can generally last up to 12 months.
